Outside his work at Eventide, Jason serves as a Fellow of the Center for Faithful Business at Seattle Pacific University. He also facilitates the Capital Stewardship Hub of the Kirby Laing Centre for Public Theology.

Mr. Varner is a partner for Investment Research Partners and has nearly 15 years of investment management experience.
Derek holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Pittsburgh and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)1 designation. He is a volunteer for CFA Institute and a member of the CFA Society of Pittsburgh. Derek resides in State College, PA with his wife and three daughters. Derek is also a volunteer member of the investment committee of Centre Foundation, a community-focused foundation supporting Centre County.
Derek’s experience includes management of the endowment fund and excess working capital for Bucknell University as the Associate Director of Investments. This role included conducting research on financial markets, asset classes, as well as public and private investment opportunities. He also participated on the University’s retirement plan oversight committee, and regularly presented to students on the topics of investment & endowment management. Derek also participated on panel discussions at institutional investment conferences to discuss investment management topics on behalf of the University.
Prior to joining Bucknell, Derek served as Portfolio Manager and Investment Committee member with Aris Wealth Services, which is currently a division of AssetMark, Inc., from 2008 to 2014. At Aris, he participated in all aspects of management of the firm’s investment strategies, including total return, absolute return, values-based and income-oriented portfolios, and he worked directly with clients and their financial advisors in order to achieve client-specific goals and objectives.

Eric J. Marshall, CFA, currently serves as President, Co-Chief Investment Officer, and Director of Research for Hodges Capital Management. He joined the firm in 1997 and also serves on the Board of Directors of the firm’s parent Company, Hodges Capital Holdings. Eric holds a BA in Finance from West Texas A&M University. He is an active member of the CFA Institute and the Dallas Society of Financial Analysts.

Prior to joining OneAscent in 2018, Cole was a Senior Investment Associate for Eventide Asset Management serving in similar capacities both on the sales/marketing and portfolio management teams. Cole enjoys spending time with his wife, Hannah, and their three young sons. Cole and his family are active members of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he occasionally teaches adult Sunday School classes.

Rob Grubb is co-founder and COO of OneAscent. Rob is an accomplished business executive with over 30 years’ experience with growing early stage companies to market leadership positions. He previously served in similar executive roles with several successful Birmingham-based healthcare technology companies. Rob obtained a BS degree from the University of North Alabama, where he was awarded an athletic scholarship.
Rob and his wife, Shawn, have been married for over 30 years. Except for a 2-year stint in Atlanta, they have resided in Birmingham throughout their marriage. They are parents to Jordan Grubb Harrison, Morgan Grubb Terch and Erin Schaffeld. They also have five grandchildren. Rob and Shawn have a passion for ministering together to families through their book (Developing a Generation of Sexual Purity) which serves as a parents guide for training children in purity.
Rob is an active member of the Church at Brook Hills where he has served in a variety of leadership roles. While at Brook Hills he has served as an ordained elder and a member of the administrative elder team. In addition, Rob has also served on other non-profit boards. In 2019, Rob was also appointed to and currently serves as a member of the State of Alabama’s Small Business Commission.

Nathan Willis is Director of Portfolio Strategy for OneAscent Investment Solutions and has 25 years of investment experience, including 20 years investing in illiquid strategies.
Nathan holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems and a minor in Economics from Taylor University. He is a holder of the CFA Charter and CAIA designation. Nathan started his career at NationsBank where he spent several years managing institutional bond portfolios and an equity mutual fund.
Prior to joining OneAscent, Nathan served as Chief Investment Officer of Greenhawk Corporation, a single-family office. At Greenhawk, Nathan was responsible for portfolio strategy and manager diligence. During his time at Greenhawk Nathan developed the allocation, sourcing, and diligence strategy for the private equity portfolio.
Prior to Greenhawk, Nathan spent almost 15 years with GenSpring Family Offices, a unit of SunTrust Banks, where he constructed portfolios for multi-generational families. While at GenSpring, Nathan served on the Investment committee and manager selection committee and served developed programs to mentor junior investment staff. Prior to GenSpring, Nathan spent four years with the family office group of Wachovia Bank.

Brent most recently served as President of Odyssey, a media and technology company creating a space for more civilized conversation online. Brent started his career at HSBC, where he worked in the Structured Finance & Advisory group focused on the energy sector. Brent is also a co-founder of The Long Drink Company and a founding advisor at Avenir Growth Capital, a growth equity firm with over $2B AUM.
After spending a decade in New York City, Brent moved back to his hometown of San Antonio, Texas in 2022 with his wife, Alex, and their two children, Clementine and Kit. Since then, they have welcomed a third child, Lumina. They attend First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio.
